Bonjour, my fabulous friends! It’s Winston here, reporting live from the trenches of winter. And when I say trenches, I mean the snow-covered sidewalks that turn my park strolls into chilly endurance tests. This winter has been ruff on my coat—my once velvety, dashing fur has started to dull, and my shine? Missing in action.
With spring approaching (thank goodness!), I’ve been thinking about the Frenchie ladies I plan to charm and realizing we need a game plan to bring my fur back to full “bonita” status. That’s why I’m enlisting the help of my humans for a revamped winter coat care routine. Trust me, no French Bulldog—or doggo in general—should be strutting around with crusty fur. Here’s how I’m gearing up to stay paws-itively fabulous.
Frenchie parents, pay attention! The first step to coat care is regular brushing, and no, your once-a-week comb-through isn’t going to cut it during winter. My humans are upping their game by brushing me every other day, and guess what? It’s already working wonders.
One of my human’s biggest grooming sins was sticking with basic shampoo from the corner pet shop. This winter, I demanded only the bougiest (and fluffiest!) shampoos and conditioners—all to maintain my coat’s luster.
(Most importantly, it absolutely must smell fresh because Eau de Wet Dog is not my thing.)
While I trust my humans to do their best at home, some things are best left to the professionals. This winter, I’ve been nagging them to book me in for proper pampering at the groomer every 4–6 weeks. Think of it as the canine equivalent of a spa day!
Bonus? I walk out turning heads (and tails) wherever I go.
Now, hear me out—while I have been extremely clear about my distaste for water (the whole “bath” scenario is truly undignified), hydration is crucial. Winter heating can dry out my coat, so my humans are upping the ante with extra hydration strategies.
My humans are also on high alert for anything that could mess up my impeccable fur. Salt, snow, and even the static electricity from fluffy sweaters (as adorable as they are) can irritate my coat.
(Though, don’t get me wrong—if there’s a chance for a fashion moment, I’ll risk it!)
I’m confident that this new coat care regimen is going to work wonders. My fur already has a bit more shine, and I’m starting to feel like myself again. Watch out, lady Frenchies—I’m about to be the most handsome Frenchie on this side of spring!
So, if you’re a fellow Frenchie reading this—first of all, congrats on your excellent taste in blog posts. Secondly, it’s time to put that adorable pout and those big, soulful eyes to work and start politely bullying your humans into giving you the spa treatment you deserve. A little side-eye here, a dramatic sigh there, and they’ll fold like a cheap chew toy. And if you’re a human reading this, don’t slack off—your pup is counting on you! Our fabulous coats and confidence levels depend on your dedication. Remember, a pampered pup is a happy pup and a happy pup… well, we’re basically Instagram-ready 24/7. Now go forth and make us look bonita! 🐾
XOXO
Winston
