Ahhh, dear reader. Another week has come and gone, and so has the nice Labor Day weekend. And we all know what that means – the official end of another summer. My first summer, to be precise.
As a young pup, there were so many new things I wanted to do this summer that I made a whole bucket list. The funny thing about life, though, is that it tends to take you places and teach you things that you never expected. Let’s recap everything that happened, shall we?
First, as you all know, I was super excited about seeing fireworks on the Fourth of July. I was so psyched to see all the pretty colors and watch the night sky light up. What I didn’t know, however, was that fireworks are loud—very loud—incomprehensibly loud. Who decided that was okay?! In what world is that amount of noise reasonable? I need to have a word with whoever created fireworks because I am upset. It gets a 0 out of 10 from me.
Next up, I tried skateboarding. Nearly broke all four of my legs. No other explanation needed: 0 out of 10.
Then, I tried riding a jet ski. It was pretty alright – got some wind in my face, got to breathe in that nice fresh lake smell, and I’m not gonna lie, I felt pretty freaking cool. However, everything changed when we hit a big bump, and I fell in. As you might imagine, my stocky body and short little legs don’t do me any favors in the swimming and buoyancy department. I would’ve drowned if it weren’t for my parents’ quick thinking. Overall, 0 out of 10.
Another thing I gave a go was going to a baseball game. Nothing says summer more than munching on a hotdog, sipping a cool beverage, and sitting in a baseball stadium. It was fun at first, but then a player hit a foul ball straight at me. I raised the cute little puppy-sized glove my dad stuffed onto my paw, remembered I don’t have opposable thumbs to catch things, and took the ball straight to the face. I didn’t even get to keep the ball, either. Ultimately, another 0 out of 10 experience.
Now, you’re probably at the point where you’re wondering if I enjoyed any part of my summer. I’ll tell you exactly what I enjoyed doing, dear reader. It’s probably the best thing I’ve ever done: tanning. Yeah, that’s right. This pup got some rays.
Every time I had the chance, I laid outside and lounged around, soaking up as much sun as I possibly could. When you remove my collar, you can even see how much the sun brightened my fur! The sun’s warmth was so comforting and relaxing – I could’ve laid there all day. It may seem like a lazy activity, but it truly is one of life’s simple pleasures. Needless to say, 10 out of 10 – would definitely do again.
So, while my summer bucket list didn’t go exactly as planned, it taught me some valuable lessons: fireworks are not for me, I am not athletically inclined in any way, and sometimes the best memories come from just taking things slow and enjoying the little moments in life. Here’s to an eventful and enlightening summer. Cheers to many more adventures ahead!
XOXO!!
