Shhhh, guys – do you hear that?
That’s the sound of a hungry belly. My belly, to be exact. I am ravenous because THANKSGIVING IS ALMOST HERE.
That’s right, folks. Arguably, what is the best holiday of the year is just a little over a week away, and I can’t wait. My belly is rumbling in anticipation.
Now, I know a lot of people like to diss on Thanksgiving. A lot of people say it’s way too close to Christmas, so it feels overshadowed. A lot of people say it’s not as fun as Halloween because you don’t get to dress up and have fun and that it’s not as meaningful as Christmas because you don’t get to give each other nice gifts. A lot of people think Thanksgiving is all around kind of a boring holiday.
To those people, I say, you don’t deserve any dessert. Because let’s be real, while Thanksgiving may not have the glitz and glamour of other holidays, it has something even better – FOOD.
Thanksgiving is like a feast for the senses, and let me tell you, it all starts with the main event: the turkey! Oh la la! Just imagine the smell of that turkey roasting in the oven, filling the air with mouthwatering goodness. Golden brown and juicy, it’s the star of the show! But wait, we can’t forget about the other yummy entrees like succulent ham glazed with honey or a savory roast beef. My tail is wagging just thinking about it!
Now, let’s talk sides because they deserve a grand spotlight, too! Picture fluffy mashed potatoes, creamy and buttery, with just a hint of garlic. And then there’s stuffing, oh mon dieu! Packed with herbs and spices, it’s that cozy hug on your plate. Don’t even get me started on cranberry sauce—sweet, tangy, and oh-so-perfect next to all that savory goodness! And how about a sweet potato casserole with gooey marshmallows on top? It’s like dessert before dessert!
And speaking of dessert, let’s dive into the sweet stuff! A perfectly golden pie fresh out of the oven is simply irresistible. Pumpkin pie with a dollop of whipped cream? Yes, please! Or how about pecan pie, with its crunchy, gooey filling that just melts in your mouth? And let’s not forget apple pie, with cinnamon-spiced apples wrapped in flaky crust. My little French Bulldog heart can hardly handle all this deliciousness!
Plus, who doesn’t love an excuse to eat copious amounts of food without any judgment? I mean, come on, people! Thanksgiving is the one time of year when people judge you if you DON’T eat enough food. If you’re not having to roll yourself out of the dining room, did you even do Thanksgiving right?
And then you have the leftovers! You don’t have to cook again for literal DAYS. Turkey sandwiches with stuffing and cranberry sauce – it’s like a whole new meal! And don’t forget about turkey pot pie, turkey soup, and all the other creative ways to repurpose those Thanksgiving leftovers.
So let’s not overlook Thanksgiving in our holiday hype – this year, let’s give it the appreciation it deserves! And if you need me, I’ll be over here drooling over turkey recipes and counting down the days until I can stuff my face with all the delicious food. Happy almost Thanksgiving, everyone
Winston out.
