Giving Thanks and Gobbling Gravy: A Dog’s Thanksgiving Shenanigans!

Hello once again, dear reader! I can barely contain my excitement because THANKSGIVING IS TOMORROW!!!!!!

Oh man, I can’t wait. My family’s starting to do some prep work for our meal, and it already smells so delectable that I’ve been drooling nonstop. Not just metaphorically but literally drooling. Mom’s made me sit on a towel so it doesn’t get all over the place.

However, as excited as I am about the food, I feel like it’s important to do some prep work of my own – some heartfelt prep work. Yeah, the highlight of Thanksgiving has become food in our culture, but I know there’s a deeper meaning to this holiday. And it all comes down to one word: gratitude.

I mean, think about it – we spend an entire day surrounded by our loved ones, eating delicious food, and just basking in each other’s company. It’s a time to reflect on all the things we have to be thankful for – big or small. Whether it’s our health, our homes, our friends and family, or even just having a roof over our heads and food on the table.

So while we indulge in turkey and pumpkin pie tomorrow (and let’s be real, probably an extra ten servings of mashed potatoes), let’s also take a moment to express our gratitude. Maybe go around the table and say what we’re thankful for, or write down a list of things that come to mind.

Here’s a sneak peek at everything I’m grateful for this year:

  1. My Amazing Parents – I am very grateful for my mom and dad and everything they’ve done for me. I know I can be a handful, but they always support me and love me unconditionally. They even sent me to a little training camp so I could learn some cool tricks, and I can’t thank them enough.
  2. My Big Sister Molly – Even though she steals some of the attention away from me, she’s taught me a lot about being a good dog and where the comfiest spots are to lie down.
  3. My Aunties – I love getting to come to work every day and see my aunties at the office. They always give me lots of love and treats, even when I’m a little too hyper.
  4. My Warm Bed – This bed is so soft and cozy; it’s like sleeping on a cloud. And with all the treats I get, it’s no wonder I need a comfy place to take my naps.
  5. All The Belly Rubs – Seriously, who doesn’t love a good belly rub? It’s the best feeling in the world, and it never gets old.
  6. Leftover Turkey – Okay, okay, so maybe food still makes my top list of things to be thankful for. But hey, can you blame me? Who wouldn’t be grateful for a delicious piece of turkey to snack on after the big meal?
  7. You, Dear Reader – Yeah, that’s right. I’m going to be a little sappy man for a second. I enjoy getting to write these blogs for you every week. It’s a great way to get some of my thoughts out and let’s be honest, I love the extra attention.

I could go on and on, but I’ll save some for tomorrow when I’m at the table with my family. And hey, maybe you can do the same! Let’s make this Thanksgiving not just about stuffing our faces (although that will definitely still be a big part of it) but also about expressing gratitude for all the blessings in our lives. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to go steal a bite of pumpkin pie before mom catches me. Shh, don’t tell her.

Winston out!
