Hello once again, dear reader! I can barely contain my excitement because THANKSGIVING IS TOMORROW!!!!!!
Oh man, I can’t wait. My family’s starting to do some prep work for our meal, and it already smells so delectable that I’ve been drooling nonstop. Not just metaphorically but literally drooling. Mom’s made me sit on a towel so it doesn’t get all over the place.
However, as excited as I am about the food, I feel like it’s important to do some prep work of my own – some heartfelt prep work. Yeah, the highlight of Thanksgiving has become food in our culture, but I know there’s a deeper meaning to this holiday. And it all comes down to one word: gratitude.
I mean, think about it – we spend an entire day surrounded by our loved ones, eating delicious food, and just basking in each other’s company. It’s a time to reflect on all the things we have to be thankful for – big or small. Whether it’s our health, our homes, our friends and family, or even just having a roof over our heads and food on the table.
So while we indulge in turkey and pumpkin pie tomorrow (and let’s be real, probably an extra ten servings of mashed potatoes), let’s also take a moment to express our gratitude. Maybe go around the table and say what we’re thankful for, or write down a list of things that come to mind.
Here’s a sneak peek at everything I’m grateful for this year:
I could go on and on, but I’ll save some for tomorrow when I’m at the table with my family. And hey, maybe you can do the same! Let’s make this Thanksgiving not just about stuffing our faces (although that will definitely still be a big part of it) but also about expressing gratitude for all the blessings in our lives. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to go steal a bite of pumpkin pie before mom catches me. Shh, don’t tell her.
Winston out!
