Tips to Optimize Your E-commerce Page

Referring to electronic commerce, e-commerce is a reference to the buying and selling of goods through an online platform rather than in an actual physical location, such as a store. Today, e-commerce is all around us; to be sure, e-commerce is on the rise, with Amazon–the leading e-commerce retailer–reporting a net revenue of $232.88 billion in 2018.

If you manage an e-commerce website or offer products for sale on your website, understanding how to optimize your e-commerce page, drive more leads, and enhance user experience could increase your conversion rate. Here are some tips to help you get started–

  • Use Great Product Images

If you’re selling products online, don’t hesitate to invest in professional photography of those products. Customers expect high-quality images, and when they aren’t delivered, customers are more likely to abandon the site. Note: some data shows that customers are more attracted to photos of the product itself rather than “action shots” – photos of the product in use. If you can only offer an image of one or the other, choose the product.

  • Offer Free or Fast Shipping (Or Both)

One reason that Amazon has quickly risen to the leading e-commerce retailer is that the company offers free shipping for its Prime members, as well as fast shipping of just two days. Now, customers expect that when ordering a product online. While completely free shipping or fast shipping may be an impossibility for your business, moving as close as you can to a customer’s shipping expectations could have a positive effect on your bottom line.

  • Optimize Your Checkout Process

A lot of times, customers make it all the way to the checkout process before abandoning a website, which means that if you optimize your checkout process, you may increase your sales. In addition to lowering shipping costs, another way that you can optimize your checkout process is to allow customers to check out as guests, minimizing the amount of time that they have to spend on your site in order to get the product they want. Make your checkout process as simple and short as possible.
